Every career has it advantages and disadvantages. For women in the technical field, where primarily they are still in the minority, these challenges can be overwhelming. What does such a woman do to flourish and excel in the position she holds?
She sees challenges as opportunities, misconceptions as an opportunity to change mindsets.
Passion and endurance are important for success. When she tackles something with heart and soul, she will achieve success.
She makes sure she is healthy, physically and mentally. Enough rest, regular exercise and healthy eating habits are important.
This woman knows that change and improvement are always possible. She regularly challenges herself to be her best self. This does not mean that she’s perfect, but that she’s brave.
There is close cooperation with employers. In cases where women are treated as inferior, she will speak to her manager, so that they can work together to make the necessary adjustments.
Contact with other women in the same field or position is of inestimable value. They support each other and can assist each other in word and deed.
This woman makes sure she has female role models. A female mentor helps her build self-confidence and to see herself as the strong individual she is.
She expects acknowledgement for her achievements. This might seem to be a case of blowing your own trumpet, but this is not so. When the wrong people are acknowledged, the wrong people are promoted. Don’t keep quiet and allow it. This woman also makes sure that others are aware of her colleagues’ achievements and successes.
She does not isolate herself in the workplace, but also does not become who she is not so as to fit in. She is open and honest about her hobbies and interests, and remains her own unique self. She also allows others to be themselves, and makes contact and in this way enters into discussions.
She does not stand back when it is insinuated that she is incompetent, but makes it clear she knows what se does and completes the task.
A good way of getting rid of stress is to keep a journal. When you write down your thoughts, it alleviates stress, helps to decrease your worries, and leads to better focus and concentration.
